BWTS Ballast Water Treatment System Valve Remote Control System // VRC Electro – Hydraulic Valves

SELMA is a specialized company implementing customized design of BWTS Ballast Water Treatment System Valves Remote Control System based on double acting hydraulic actuators as retrofit to existing HPU or stand alone electrohydraulic power packs and valves.
BWTS Valve Remote Control System is designed for ships with the use of electric or hydraulic actuators implementing remote control open close 0-100% condition.

SELMA implements the design, development and installation of Valves Remote Control Systems for the most demanding & customized installations and for any type of vessels.
SELMA Integrated Electro-Hydraulic Valves Remote Control Systems comprises of the following equipment:
- Stand Alone Hydraulic Power Pack Units
- Double Acting Hydraulic Actuators
- Butterfly Valves
- PLC Control Station
- Mimic Control Panel
- PC Workstation / Touch Screen Display
- HPU & Main Hydraulic Control Box
(Solenoid Valves / Double Pilot Check Valves /
Flow Reducers / Throttle Valves / Hydraulic Blocks)

SELMA Mimic Diagrams of Graphical User Interface (GUI) are implemented according to the pumping arrangement plan of the vessel and the valves can be linearly controlled at a scale of 0% – 100%. The Hydraulic Actuators are designed to operate at any extreme environmental location even permanently submerged in sea water and are therefore fabricated with a special protective coating. In case of emergency operation hydraulic actuators fail safety comprises of an input for connection to a portable hand pump.
SELMA implements advanced BWTS Ballast Water Treatment Tank Gauging System in order to comply with latest NK class requirements “Increased of Water Head by Tank Connection” and specifically with “Countermeasure A” Connecting Tanks with Monitoring Device and Operational Restriction.

SELMA Tank Level Monitoring System is based on new hydrostatic level transmitters (level sensors) are installed in Ballast Water Tanks (Sensor Level Range will cover from Double Bottom Tank until Top Side Tank)
When Water Ballast Tank level reaches the high-high level alarm preset value, the corresponding alarm will be activated, and the system will close the Top-Side Discharge Valve. Additionally when the Level of D.B.W.B Tank reaches the high working point then the top side valve closes in order to stop discharging operation.
The top side valve opens again remotely when the level inside D.B.W.B Tank reaches the low working point and thus it will be ready to initiate the discharge operation of Top Side Tank.

SELMA Expertise Engineering Teams implement ship specific drawings study regarding the respective modification in the MSB Main Switchboard and the installation of new MCCBs (Molded Case Circuit Breakers) to support new consumers:
- Short Circuit Calculation Study
- Arc Flash Calculation Analysis
- Load Analysis Study
- Electrical Drawings of MSB Modification
- MSB & PMS Generator Engines to Scrubber I/O Interconnection & Modification Plans

The modification of the MSB involve the installation of new MCCBs in the MSB in order to support the new, additional consumers. The new consumers, according to their power demand can be distinguished in three main categories.
- Heavy 440V consumers (EGCS Sea Water Pumps and Quencher Pump, BWTS Consumers)
- Auxiliary 440V consumers (System Control Panels and other auxiliary equipment and devices)
- Auxiliary 220V consumers (EGCS & BWTS Auxiliaries)

Furthermore SELMA implement modification/upgrade to the existing PMS Power Management System in order to comply with the Scrubber System technical specification standards and requirements by using Auxiliary Analogue & Digital Interfaces.
